The house is perfectly situated for exploring the baroque towns of Modica, Ragusa, Scicli and Noto and also very close to a number of beaches. Simona and her beautiful family were very welcoming to us. There were a few small hiccups but these were quickly and satisfactorily dealt with. The house is well equipped and Simona had thoughtfully provided things such as coffee, sugar, water and some drinks so that we didn’t need to rush out and shop. There was also a lovely gift of local cookies and Modica chocolate. As it was 38 degrees the week we were there, the air conditioning was very necessary and worked very efficiently. The pool area and outdoor kitchen are wonderful and fully supplied with cutlery and dishes so that you only need to bring your food and any pots from the house. There is even a second dishwasher so you don’t need to carry everything back indoors and a small fridge to keep your wine cool. The dining and seating area out the front of the house is also lovely. In fairness to people thinking of renting, you can get noise from the nearby road around the pool area depending on the wind. Some days we couldn’t hear it at all. On others is was quite noisy. There was no noise inside the house. And the mattresses, while obviously new and probably of very good quality, we found quite hard. Perhaps some mattress toppers might help. And finally, if you love dogs, as we do, you won’t find it too hard to persuade beautiful Bella and Bianca to spend some time with you.
